​California Economic Development Leaders Leave a Significant Footprint at SelectUSA

​EDC Executive Director, Connie Stopher participated in a delegation led by The Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), which offers services that provide support for business owners in areas including attraction, retention and expansion services, site selection, international trade development, and much more. ​

Go-Biz recently concluded a series of events including SelectUSA Investment Summit, hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. This year, California made its mark in the event, as a Diamond-level sponsor with a large and welcoming booth that received attendees from around the world.

"Of the 51 states and territories represented at the Summit, California had the largest delegation, and I was enormously proud to lead this team representing the fifth largest economy in the world. I assured Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimundo and her team that they can count on seeing us again at next year's Summit in even greater numbers," said Lt. Governor Kounalakis, who led the California delegation. 

The success of California's participation at the SelectUSA Summit was achieved through a close partnership with the California Employment Training Panel and the California delegation to SelectUSA, which included a diverse group of local economic development leaders from across the state, including our very own Executive Director, Connie Stopher. ​

We are partnering up with the TVE2 to host a free Co-Working Day. Our goal is to provide a space for entrepreneurs to work, collaborate, and network with fellow startups and small business experts. We will offer work spaces, free wifi, and lunch.

​The Economic Development Coalition will be attending the ICSC event from September 28th - September 30th in San Diego, CA. The goal of ICSC is to create connections and catalyze deals with the innovators and changemakers
that help support the industries and economies of their regions. We are excited to network with other individuals striving to strengthen their communities and economies.

The Alberhill Project Set to Provide More Reliable Electric Power the Southwest Riverside Region

As our region grows and continues to prosper through its communities, thriving businesses, entertainment, and much more, the need for a reliable supply of electric power is vital. 
The Alberhill System Project from Southern California Edison will consist of building a new substation to provide power, installing three miles of new subtransmission power lines, and upgrading almost 20 miles of subtransmission powerlines. 

This new development will improve and support electricity reliability and will be able to prepare against unplanned outages and natural occurrences like earthquakes or wildfires. This will greatly improve the quality of life of our residents as well as support our continued population growth in the region.

Our businesses will also benefit from this development as they will be allowed to grow without the fear of an unreliable power source. In addition, we will be able to continue the ongoing trend toward building and transportation electrification that will help California meet its greenhouse gas emission reduction goals.
